Text message (SMS) opt-in

How Sewing IQ clients agree to receive text messages from their sewing studio, and how to stop them at any time.

What the text messages are

Sewing IQ is a client-management platform for seamstresses, tailors, and small sewing businesses ("studios"). Studios on an eligible plan can send their own clients service-related SMS text messages — for example, project status updates, fitting and appointment reminders, rental due-date reminders, and billing or pickup notices. These are conversational, transactional messages from a studio you already work with, never marketing blasts, and Sewing IQ never sells or shares your phone number with third parties for their own marketing.

How a client opts in

Text messaging is off by default for every client. A client only receives texts after giving express consent in one of these ways:

  1. In the client portal: the client signs in, opens Settings, adds their mobile phone number, and switches on the "Text me new messages" toggle shown below. The toggle stays disabled until a phone number is saved, so no one can be texted without a confirmed number.
  2. Through their studio: a studio can record consent on the client's profile — collected in writing, electronically, or verbally (for example on an intake form) — before enabling texting for that client.

Turning the toggle on means: "I agree to receive service-related text messages from my studio through Sewing IQ. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."

Where this setting lives in your account

Sign in to Sewing IQ and go to Settings in the client portal. Under Text messages you'll see your saved phone number and the opt-in toggle. Your studio can also see and manage this consent on your client profile in their studio dashboard.

Message frequency and cost

Message frequency varies with your studio's activity — typically tied to project updates, appointments, and reminders. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to opt out

You can withdraw consent at any time, in any of these ways:

  • Reply STOP to any text message you receive. You'll get one confirmation text and no further messages.
  • Turn the toggle off in Settings → Text messages in the client portal.
  • Ask your studio to disable texting on your client profile.

Opting out only stops text messages — you still receive in-app messages and emails. For help, reply HELP to any message or email support@sewingiq.com.

Terms and privacy

Text messaging through Sewing IQ is governed by our Terms & Conditions (see section 6, "Messaging and text communications") and our Privacy Policy, which explain how consent is collected and honored, how phone numbers are used, and that messages are delivered via Twilio. Studios must not text anyone who has not consented and must honor every opt-out request promptly.
